Learn How To Harness The Power Of Words In Your Life
Speaking comes to most individuals as naturally as breathing. On most occasions, we utter words without conscious thought. We seldom stop and consider what we are saying. Every day thousands of words pour out of our mouths as we freely express our thoughts, opinions, judgments, and beliefs. However, most times, we are oblivious to the positive or negative effect these words have on ourselves and our people.
Words have immense power that gives out energy and a message, which creates a reaction in others. Everything you say produces an effect on the world. Whatever you say to someone else will have a remarkable impact on that person. We are continually growing something, either negative or positive, with our declarations.
Reaction to our words often reverts to us, usually in a multiplied form. For example, if I speak words of judgment to a person, they will judge me back, probably with more intensity as their review has the pain or anger caused by my terms attached to it. Expressions of kindness and acceptance will generate a warm and appreciative reaction in a person. That person’s response to the comments will be more robust because it will have the emotion created by the words attached. The influence of words has a ripple effect on our lives and the lives around us.
Recently I came across work on the study of water crystals by Dr. Emoto, who collected water samples that he froze and later photographed as the final crystals formed. He then decided to write words on vials of water taken from the same source. Crystals in the vials with positive comments, such as love and gratitude, were beautifully formed. The crystals in the vials with negative messages such as hate and evil were very different. In some instances, the water didn’t even form crystals. Experiments using words from other languages have been done by scientists not knowing what the words meant. The results were similar. You can find more information at What the Bleep Do We Know!? | Water Crystals. Although I find quantum physics theories challenging to grasp, this study’s findings on water crystals have profoundly impacted me. The human body is widely known to be formed of up to ninety percent water. If words had such a notable impact on water crystals, then what is the impact of positive and negative remarks on our bodies?
An essential key to success in life is to understand the power of words. A word is a thought eternalized. Our thoughts do have a significant effect on us, even though they are stored internally. What we believe affects the way we live our life. Our thoughts influence our emotions, our attitudes, and our behavior. A thought is spoken by way of a whisper into our subconscious. However, they still have power because we allow them to remain hidden inside our minds while they cultivate, grow roots, and spread to other areas of our lives. Thoughts have so much power as they affect us the very moment we speak them to ourselves. Spoken words are even more powerful because you can never take them back. Once it is out of our mouth, it no longer affects only ourselves. The language we choose to use has even more power than our thoughts because they affect ourselves, the people, and the world around us.
Successful people take control of their declarations rather than allowing their words to take control of them. They are more conscious of their language and thoughts and the power they unleash. Successful people recognize that they need to articulate positively rather than negatively to cultivate success. Successful people distinguish themselves by the words that they speak. They comprehend the significance of speaking words that will strengthen self-esteem, confidence, relationships, and possibilities. They practice words of acceptance, affirmation, encouragement, appreciation, and love.
To nurture more personal success, the words we speak need to align with what we want to see being produced in our lives – our vision and our dreams. Your language can decide your destiny. Even more significant, your words can make a positive difference in the people you interact with every day. Before you vocalize, ask yourself: Will what I’m about to say motivate, inspire or uplift the hearer? Will it create forward momentum, dissolve fear, and design safety and trust? Will I make a negative or positive ripple effect by vocalizing these words? Let’s be determined to unleash the strength of words for positive change.
