Car shows, water parks, and weekend beach flings are on everyone’s to-do lists. The fireworks have cleared, and it’s almost time for back-to-school. Facebook and Instagram will soon be flooded with posts from last-minute mini-vacation, and the first day of school photos featuring the latest and greatest trends. And boy do we enjoy watching everyone grow up! I love August!
But first…
Happy Birthday To All of Our August Babies!
- AUGUST BIRTHSTONE – Peridot & Sardonyx
- AUGUST FLOWER – Gladiolus & Poppies
Plan on It!
Get your planner ready for August! It’s a busy month, so start today. You get a break from holidays, but don’t forget to add in your birthdays, anniversaries, events, and appointments. Once you have those transferred, you can start your monthly tasks, and schedule your weekly tasks too.
This is also a great time to:
- Declutter and sort clothes. Take inventory of what needs to be purchased for back to school, and keep in mind what you already have so you can coordinate.
- Summer cleaning! Check school supplies on hand and make a list of what you will need to replenish.
- Sync Schedules. Get routines ready and sorted for the new school year. Look at practices, and school events to avoid last-minute conflict and stress. If you have two events on the same day and time, then you have time to arrange rides or ask a family member to step up as a “surrogate.”
- This is also a great time to finish up any lingering eye exams, sports physicals, and dentist appointments to avoid missing days during the school year.
Need A Little More Time?
Consider using delivery or site pick up from Target or Wal-Mart. This allows for choosing supplies without the lines and crowds from the comfort of your own home. Then like super mom, you can pick them up at the store, and stop for ice-cream!
Saving gas? If you order early enough, those same sites deliver and may even offer free shipping if you spend over a certain amount. Or check out these bundles on Amazon.
Getting ready for back-to-school can be fun if it is planned just right. If you need to hit the stores, get everyone up early before the crowds rush in. Good luck, safe travels, and take time to make memories during the last of the summer hot August nights.
What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear them!
