The last cookie recipe was a classic sugar cookie recipe that can be used for all holidays and different occasions. Today I’m going to share another classic with you. Peanut Butter Blossoms. These too can be used for so many occasions.
Raid your cupboards or hit print for your grocery list. You’ll need about 7 dozen chocolate kisses, granulated sugar, peanut butter, brown sugar, butter, eggs, flour, baking soda, and baking powder. The recipe will make about 84 cookies.
If your a chocolate lover you can experiment with your favorites like Rolos, Heath Bar pieces, or whatever you can dream up.
You can also top the cookies with sprinkles for extra fun and add food coloring to the cookie dough to add festivity.
So how do we make these pieces of delicious peanut buttery drops of goodness? First, carve out an hour and a half for cooking. If you plan on having fun add an extra 30 minutes for laughter and storytelling. Next, grab some helpers. These can be friends, family, children or adults. Then make your way to the kitchen, put on some tunes and have some fun following the directions below.
Steps
1
Heat oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1 cup of creamy peanut butter, 1 cup softened butter and 2 eggs with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with a spoon. Stir in 3 cups of flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
2
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball into a bowl of granulated sugar (Fill the bowl with about 2 Tablespoons). Place the balls of cookie dough about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
3
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Immediately press 1 chocolate candy in the center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
For the best cookies, make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it (covered) for up to 24 hours before baking. If it’s too firm, leave it out at room temperature for about a half of hour.
