Tomorrow Starts Today
Most people today are so busy scrambling around trying to arrange their lives to be somewhere else. We all want to be someplace else geographically, relationally, or financially. We aspire to be anywhere, but here, we tend to believe that our lives would work if only we can be someplace else. This escapism acts like a drug that gives temporary relief to a chronic problem.
Aside from aching to be someplace else, most people today also live by a philosophy of “someday” that allows them to manipulate time. “I’ll put it on my to-do list, and I’ll leave that for tomorrow, or I’ll do it when…” are just a small list of reasons used to stay in their comfort zones. The predicament is that both someday and somewhere are undefined and illusionary. Somewhere does not exist and eventually never comes, although you keep hoping that it does. It leaves the situation very disempowering and is responsible for frustration and disappointment for many people.
The fact, however, is that you only have right now. Learning to live fully in and for the moment is vital to create an extraordinary life because we are not promised tomorrow. Being content and present does not mean that you lose your purpose or drive; but instead, it allows you to slow down and enjoy the journey. Not only is it natural to want more from life, but being present is also a requirement, along with being grateful for your current situation, and knowing where you are presently is crucial in comprehending where you long to be. Allowing yourself to use someday as an excuse to soften your problems will not create long-term fulfillment or success. Be straightforward with yourself and quit making excuses solely to make yourself feel better. Welcoming discomfort with a small amount of pain can be very useful as it will, at the very least, prompt you into action. There is always something you can do in your current circumstances to transform your desires into existence. There are always baby steps to take.
One of the most effective means you have is resourcefulness, meaning doing what you can right now with what you have. You don’t have to wait for “when I am…” or “someday when” before you decide to take action on your hopes and dreams and transform them into attainable goals. The slightest idea acted upon can make all the difference as it immediately makes your vision real and stifles your someday because you used your will to take charge consciously.
It is essential to realize that the intention of persevering a dream and transforming it into a goal is not just in accomplishing it but even more so in the experience of learning while doing it. You do not need to reach a destination to travel; you need only to travel. Whatever intention you are pursuing, you will presumably contribute more time in its pursuance than actually achieving it. And believe it or not, most goals are anti-climatic when you reach them anyhow. It’s in the process where you find authentic satisfaction, and the experience transforms you instead of only acquiring something. If you can’t be satisfied and appreciative without your goal, then the chances are that you won’t be happy and thankful for it either.
Thrive in the present, but recognize where you are going. Be right here to capture the magical moments in your life and celebrate the things that bring you joy. Hold on to them as treasures that you will carry into the beautiful future you are creating. Life is lived in the moment, but it is also crafted and created in that very exact moment. There is no moment like the present to design for the next ten years of your life. Allow your knowledge and thoughts to serve you through action. Action is what ultimately decides your future. Move confidently in your choice of direction, and don’t get seduced by the widespread belief that eventually, your life will change or someday things will come your way. When you partner with God, you are the source, and he is the creator of your prosperity, but it all starts with a feeling of infinite gratitude for all that you already possess, precisely where you are in your season of life. One of the most glorious opportunities you have in life is that you can begin immediately with what you already possess to design anything you aspire because the ultimate resources to life live within you.
“You do not need to reach a destination to travel; you need only to travel.”
Dwelling in a place called somewhere certainly won’t serve you long term, although it may feel good as a short-term excuse or escape. Having to consistently deceive yourself into believing that you will act on your hopes someday when this or that is just right will only produce an unnecessary strain on your mind and body. When you turn your “someday” philosophy into a “same day” philosophy, you can start to adopt the mindset to immediately take action on your ideas exactly where you are with precisely what you have.
What somewhere and someday really comes down to is that you falsely declare what you need is not currently available to you, creating a belief that you have no way to contribute to your success today. You are left waiting for something else that is somewhere else before you take action. Ironically, you will only receive total admittance to your dedicated resources when you take action precisely where you are with what you have, despite your justifications. Genuine gratitude and happiness never rely on external conditions. Instead, self-evaluation of your present circumstances purely determines those fees. You hold within your heart and mind the seeds you need for the rest of your life. Plant them with joy, water them with gratitude, and rejoice in your life with your creator.
