Congratulations! You have made the most crucial decision in your life right now, the decision to change. You have thought about what is and is not working for you. You have imagined the impact of change and are inspired to take action. You have chosen to make some modifications in your life. You have come to an awareness that the only way things are going to develop for you financially, spiritually, and physically is to take action. You are consciously aware that you have to put forth the effort to get positive outcomes.
The first step is admitting you need to change; the next step is creating a plan of action.
Having an action plan is crucial to your success. Without a plan to accomplish, your dreams are only thoughts. Something you wish would happen but have no intention of putting in the work to make it happen. When you add your thoughts with a pen to paper, joined with an intensity to see them become realities, and continue to do everything conceivable to meet that goal, you have a template for victory.
The formula for creating a design for development is: Desire + Effort = Results.
Start with your vision. Please write down your end picture precisely as you see it. Whether your goal is personal development, financial security, or whatever you crave so badly that you can no longer live without, write it down.
Make your goals tangible. Be realistic. For example, if you want to lose twenty pounds, it is unrealistic to think you can lose twenty pounds in three days. It is reasonable to lose twenty pounds in three months with a decent plan of action. It is essential to give yourself a time frame with regards to your project. These time blocks are the milestones for marking your successes. They are also necessary items in creating SMART goals.
While you see your vision in your head, and put it to life on paper in the written word, write down how you plan on accomplishing the best results possible. How will I lose twenty pounds? What will I do each day to achieve my goal? What do I personally need to accomplish this goal?
Set up a schedule outlining every step that you need to take daily to reach your weekly goals. Be as specific as you can. The more detailed that you are, the more likely you are to succeed. Make a daily “to-do” list. Writing it down will help you mentally see yourself executing each task. Having seen it written down will also allow you to see how much you’ve accomplished at the end of the week. This step can also help you know where you need to improve or where to make changes to see yourself grow. Celebrate the wins, big and small. Congratulate yourself for each accomplishment, and allow yourself to feel the power of your success and appreciate your efforts.
Be committed. Commit yourself to work the plan because you are worth it. Practice offering yourself words of encouragement and affirmations. Keep positivity in the forefront and stay focused. List all of the reasons why you will be able to finish your goal. Use the strengths you own to help you follow through and reach your goal.
Everyone struggles, and that makes you human. We all have weaknesses. It’s great to know your weaknesses, so you can plan to work around them to overcome all barriers that may come your way, including yourself. Join your strengths and weakness in your action plan. Know your capabilities as well as your shortcomings.
Plan ahead. Your outline needs to include your reward system. Write down each reward for each accomplishment that you fulfill for every step of your design. Every time you follow through to reach a mini-goal, be sure to reward yourself. Rewards will keep you motivated and give you a sense of accomplishment.
Allow yourself grace. We are human, and therefore we fall short sometimes, but don’t be discouraged. A temporary lapse, a deviation from the plan, or even a temporary setback is no reason to throw the entire program out of the window. Acknowledge it and continue to move forward. Just keep swimming! Remember, slow and steady win the race. Your course of action for change is not a race to the finish line. You are only in competition with yourself. Your plan is for your future, and only you have the power to see it through.
The success of your action plan is not a quick fix, so remember you will not see results overnight. Your transformation is a process, and the process is something you must endure to change your life for the better.
Remember, only you can determine if the reward is worth the price you are paying for it in the effort.
